Xiaomi maybe working on an iPhone SE killer

by SowmyaMarch 29, 2016

Chinese company Xiaomi maybe secretly working an iPhone SE killer. A new ‘unnamed’ Xiaomi phone is doing the rounds on the internet that could be its answer to Apple’s 4-inch iPhone SE. Moreover, an image accompanying the report suggests that the phone could look very much like the Mi 5, only smaller.

The unannounced Xiaomi phone – from the front – looks exactly like the Mi 5, and even houses a physical home button of the latter, possibly honing a fingerprint scanner as well.

The phone is expected to carry a 4.3-inch display with an HD (720×1280 pixels) resolution and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 with 3GB of RAM under the hood. It is expected to come with 32GB of internal memory with no word on an expandable slot.

It will reportedly sport a 13-megapixel camera on the rear and carry a price tag of CNY 1,799 (which roughly translates to Rs.18,400).

Xiaomi is yet to make this phone official, so we suggest you take this piece of information with a grain of salt. That said, should Xiaomi actually come out with such a device, the iPhone SE will indeed see tough competition, even more so because Xiaomi is known to price its phones very aggressively.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi will launch its flagship Mi 5 phone in India on March 31. The Mi 5 comes with a 5.15-inch FullHD IPS display and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor under the hood. It is available in 2 RAM variants: 3GB and 4GB and three storage options: 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.

The Mi5 sports a 16-megapixel camera on the rear with 4-axis optical image stabilisation, phase detection autofocus and LED flash along with a 4-megapixel camera on the front. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery.
